Learn about the new Rotaready sign-in page

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be migrating accounts to the new Rotaready sign-in page. There’s nothing you need to do. It will look a little different, but still works in the same way.

What’s the same

  • The steps to sign-in haven’t changed. You enter the same information as usual, such as your username or email address, and password.

What changed and why?

We’ve re-engineered the sign-in experience and added new features to make accessing (and recovering access to) your account easier and more secure:

  • Ditch the username! You can now sign-in with your email address. If there isn’t one associated with your account, you’ll be prompted to enter one when you next sign-in.
  • ‘Forgot Organisation’ helps you rediscover your Rotaready Organisation Name.
  • ‘Forgot Password’ has been redesigned to be faster and more secure.
  • Introducing support for Single Sign On (SSO).
  • Consistent sign-in experience across web browsers and the Rotaready mobile apps.
  • A clean, modern design, making it faster to sign-in.

Our changes also pave the way for future functionality, such as Two Factor Authentication (2FA).

How to help keep your account secure

There are a few simple ways to improve your account’s security:

  • Add an email address and a mobile phone number, so you can recover access to your account.
  • Use a password that’s difficult to guess, with a combination of numbers, letters and symbols.
  • Always sign-out when you’re finished, especially if you’re using a shared or office computer.

If you sign in on a device that’s not yours (like a shared or office computer), learn how to browse in private to help protect your account.


The clocks go back, Rotaready marches forward

Next week will mark a century since Daylight Savings Time (specifically British Summer Time, BST) was introduced in the UK.

The clocks changing every March and October actually mark a shift in timezone. In fact, timezones are one of a number of factors in what we call a ‘locale’ in Rotaready – and a locale defines the configuration of a particular region.

Tracking staff availability & holiday allowances

Do your staff work the classic Mon – Fri, 9-5?  Many of our clients’ staff don’t. They have a variety of different shift patterns so keeping track of who’s available to work on any given day can be a headache.

On top of this, in summer, many people’s weekly patterns and commitments will change, e.g. university students can offer more hours. Furthermore, with increased holiday requests between June – September, keeping track of the availability of your workforce, their holiday allowances and ensuring you don’t become short-staffed can be tricky to stay on top of.

Rotaready’s self-service availability and absence management tools are perfectly suited to the job, giving your staff as much flexibility as you can afford them whilst reassuring you that you won’t be suddenly short-staffed.

Rota management software – Jack and master of all trades

A key design principle when we were building our rota management software was to ensure it’d be awesome in every industry, for businesses large and small. From hospitality to retail to healthcare to leisure and more, we offer a consistently great product, regardless of how many staff or sites an organisation may have. This contrasts with many of our competitors whose software is targeted at a certain market.

A few days ago, a prospective client asked me an interesting question, along the lines of: “Why should I choose Rotaready over rota management software built especially for my industry?”

Shift Swaps, now live!

I’m proud to announce the release of the most demanded feature we’ve ever had on the Rotaready development list: shift swaps! Now available to everyone.

We spent time with some of our customers to understand how shift swaps work in practice before diving head-first into mock-ups, sketches, doodles and code. This article takes a look at the things we learned and how we went about integrating swaps with Rotaready.
